Give up on HR1/SB1 already! What’s wrong with you Democrats and progressives? Don’t you see that Mitch McConnell isn’t going to let you pass it and neither will your own conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin? How ridiculous to think that you can move your caucus to vote for what the majority of the country supports and the overwhelming majority of your constituents, your base wants! Democrats aren’t allowed to do that!

Ignore the Gobble-de-Gook

Is that the gist of the gobble-de-gook coming out of your mouth this morning Joe Scarborough?

But the Jan 6 commission, shame on Mitch McConnell for blocking that. What about climate change, will there be enough “bipartisan” votes for that Joe Scarborough or should Democrats just give up on that too, because obviously, Mitch McConnell is not going to let his caucus vote for something like that either. How about gun control?

How much do we have to pare down the progressive agenda, the one that the democratically controlled congress promised its constituents that it was determined to pass this time for real, to make it “bipartisan” enough for conservative Democrats and Mitch McConnell’s republicans to vote for it? I guess we should just give up on police reform, right?

I mean, if we can’t get the For the People Act which rids the country of the dark money that is controlling conservative Democrats like Joe Manchin and for all intents and purposes, the entire congressional republican party, we certainly aren’t going to get the police reforms that progressives voted for in record numbers, giving control of the Senate to Democrats and not republicans for the first time in a decade.

The Progressive Wish List is the Agenda

No, what we are demanding of those whom we progressives, we black women elected to save the country from slipping immediately into a fascist state, is a “progressive wish list” according to republican “small c conservative” Joe Scarborough. He laughs and scoffs at the audacity, the nerve, of us progressives demanding actual progress on the agenda that we and the clear majority of the rest of the country voted for!

Let me ask you this Joe; what was Cap’n Fat Back’s tax cut (which is still doing damage by the way, and is a big reason why the richest people in the world aren’t paying taxes)? A “small c conservative” wish list as far as I can tell. And what about the hundreds of federal judges who serve for life who were appointed and confirmed under the traitorous and corrupt chump administration? Wasn’t that a big part of that same “small c conservative” wish list?

“Frankenstein’s monster in an editorial cartoon, 1896, an allegory on the Silverite movement displacing other progressive factions in late 19th century U.S.” By Anonymous — Fort Wayne Weekly Gazette October 29, 1896 p. 20, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=63599373

Here’s a question you never ask yourself Joe — who gives a shit what you think we “small p progressives” should do? I won’t take advice from the same Frankensteins who built the monster and only ran away once it started destroying the village and killing the villagers. You didn’t realize the moment that you started digging in cemetery’s looking for brains to reanimate that you were creating a monster? Guess who did — these guys! We progressives — not you, us!

Bipartisanship — What about Majority Rule?

So, progressives, blue dog Democrats, Joe Biden, forget trying to build a bridge with those same republicans who have played you like idiots for over a decade while stealing OUR lunch. WE are sick of it and that is the only reason why anyone even knows Joe Manchin’s name. It is the only reason why Democrats are in control, because WE have voted by majority rule for this “progressive wish list.”

You’re just going to have to sit back and take it “small c conservatives.” We’ve tried it your way for the last 40 years and all you did was bankrupt a growing and vibrant middle class, stymied our youngest adults, and created a monster that is still working to destroy America with the help of your fellow “old southern lawyers.”

In the same way that Moscow Mitch has been able to hold his caucus in opposition to everything that we the people demand, Democrats need to hold their caucus together and finally give the people what we are demanding. What Manchin and others can’t see is that doing what the people want is going to have strong, positive, and lasting results of which they will reap the rewards as will we the people.

Our political faith is in majority rule — not in bipartisanship.

The fact is, if Democrats would go ahead and appoint a select committee on the 1/6 insurrection, Democrats would have even bigger majorities as republican 1/6 co-conspirators have to resign, creating multiple vacancies in the Senate and the House on the GOP side.

Then we could pass a truly progressive agenda for the first time since LBJ and FDR.

Earn our votes by showing some guts Democrats.

Your slim majority came at the price of our elderly standing in line for hours and hours to vote. Your majority came because of people willing to risk their health voting in a pandemic. Your majority came because the majority of the country as a whole put our faith in our democracy and we won.

We did our part — now you have to do yours and that means to fight and fight hard and fearlessly. We don’t need you to thank us. Don’t give us credit for electing you. Do what we sent you there to do already and pass the progressive agenda — no excuses!
